Bodyland Rotterdam is the right place to enjoy your Private Hammam treatment in peace.

At Bodyland Rotterdam we have built a hammam room like in an Oriental bathhouse. Here we give four different variants of this traditional cleansing ritual.

At most bathhouses, the treatments are provided in the open space. Our hammam room is only for one person, so you are completely private during your treatment with us. This way you can optimally enjoy your hammam massage.

We use steam to heat up the hammam room. So during your treatment you lie in a wonderful steam room which opens your pores even better and makes cleaning the skin easier.

Our four treatments have been developed in such a way that there is something that appeals to everyone. From the traditional hammam with a scrub treatment and soap bag massage to the ghassoul hammam where a body wrap is also used. But you can also opt for just the delicious soap bag massage or just the scrub treatment with body wrap.

Traditional Hammam

A traditional hammam treatment is a lavish and relaxing experience deeply rooted in the rich history of Middle Eastern bathhouse traditions. Originating in the ancient Roman baths, the hammam has evolved into an art form of cleansing and rejuvenation, with every element imbued with symbolism and careful attention to detail.

It was later adopted and refined by the Arab and Ottoman cultures, becoming the traditional hammam we know today. This ritual is a body cleansing and therapeutic experience.

Benefits of a Hammam Treatment

    The hammam treatment deeply cleanses the skin, removes impurities and opens clogged pores.

The steps of this hammam treatment

  • Steam and Rinse

    All Treatments
    You will be rinsed down by the Tellak with warm water while you lie in the steam room. This will open the pores and the first relaxation will take place.

  • Savon Noir

    With 90 minutes
    The Tellak uses a special soap, often made from olive oil, to soap your body. This soap is known as "Savon Noir" in the Moroccan tradition. It creates a smooth base for the next step.

  • Warm Rinsing

    With 90 minutes
    After the Savon Noir soap treatment, your body is thoroughly rinsed to remove all residues of the black olive soap.

  • Scrub Treatment

    All Treatments
    The Tellak uses a rough glove (kese) to thoroughly exfoliate your skin. This process removes dead skin cells and impurities, leaving your skin feeling silky soft.

  • Warm Rinsing

    All Treatments
    After scrubbing, your body is thoroughly rinsed to remove all remains of dead skin cells.

  • Soap Bag Massage

    All Treatments
    The Tellak will now cover you with a warm blanket of soap bubbles. When you are completely covered, the Tellak starts the massage and the soap bubbles are used to ensure that the massage feels smooth and supple.

  • Washing Hair

    With 60 & 90 minutes
    After the soap bag massage, the Tellak will rinse your head with warm water and then lather it with traditional Turkish olive shampoo and massage it in smoothly.

  • Cold Rinsing

    All Treatments
    After the body wrap, your body and head are thoroughly rinsed with cold water to remove all traces of soap. The cold water ensures that your pores will close again and gives your "resistance" a boost, which ensures that you are less susceptible to temperature differences and colds among other things.

  • Disinfect

    All Treatments
    We close the treatment by lightly disinfecting you with a traditional Arabic eau de cologne. This way you are resh and fruity to go along the day.

Ghassoul Hammam

Oriental scrub and soap bag massage & body wrap

The Ghassoul Hammam treatment is a traditional North African beauty ritual that has been practiced for centuries in countries such as Morocco and Algeria. The heart of this treatment is Ghassoul, a mineral clay that is rich in nutrients and natural minerals. At Bodyland we have replaced the clay for a body wrap with Aloe Vera as the main ingredient. This treatment is known for its ability to purify, hydrate and rejuvenate the skin.

The Ghassoul Hammam treatment is a beautiful ritual that utilizes the benefits of the natural body wrap to cleanse, exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. It is not only a beauty treatment, but also a chance to relax and enjoy while your body is cared for.

  • Ghassoul Body Wrap

    All Treatments
    Now that your skin is completely clean and your body is completely relaxed after the massage, the Tellak will start applying a body wrap. Once applied, it will be massaged for some time to ensure that this pack is properly and deeply absorbed into the skin.

  • Cold Rinsing

    All Treatments
    After the body wrap, your body and head are thoroughly rinsed with cold water to remove all traces of soap. The cold water ensures that your pores will close again and gives your "resistance" a boost, which ensures that you are less susceptible to temperature differences and colds among other things.

  • Disinfect

    All Treatments
    We close the treatment by lightly disinfecting you with a traditional Arabic eau de cologne. This way you are resh and fruity to go along the day.

Arabian Soap Bag Massage

The Arabic soap bag massage is intended for relaxation and gentle cleansing of the skin.

The Arabian Soap Bag Massage, also known as "Kessa Soap Bag Massage," is a lavish and rejuvenating treatment performed mainly in hammams, the traditional bathhouses that originated in the Arab world. This treatment combines the cleansing power of special soap with the relaxation of an in-depth massage to renew your body and mind.

The heart of the Arabic Soap Bag Massage treatment lies in the use of special soap and a traditional soap bag, known as "Kessa." The soap used is usually olive oil soap with added natural ingredients such as eucalyptus oil or rose water. This soap has cleansing, moisturizing and rejuvenating properties for the skin.

Turkish Scrub Hammam

Oriental Scrub & Body Wrap

A Turkish scrub hammam treatment, also known as a hammam experience, is an age-old, traditional cleansing and relaxation ritual that has its origins in the old Ottoman Empire. It is a fascinating journey into the world of exotic scents, warm steam and deep relaxation.

After warming the skin by dousing it with warm water, the tellak (bath staff) starts a very extensive scrub treatment with the kese (scrub glove). We take our time to loosen the dead skin cells by using a different method of scrubbing. This will cause more of the dead skin cells to release more easily and skin renewal will occur.

We end the treatment with a body wrap massage for extra care and nourishment of the skin.

    After the soap bag massage, your body is thoroughly rinsed with warm water to remove all traces of soap.

  • Ghassoul Body Wrap

    Now that your skin is completely clean and your body is completely relaxed after the massage, the Tellak will start applying a body wrap. Once applied, it will be massaged for some time to ensure that this pack is properly and deeply absorbed into the skin.
