At Laser Studio Bodyland in Rotterdam we work with a new technique of laser hair removal, namely Diode laser hair removal, which falls under the SHR (Super Hair Removal) technology. This is the most efficient and comfortable hair removal method. The Diode laser produces a highly concentrated light beam with a specific wavelength. The light beam is then emitted onto the skin for a fraction of a second where the energy of the laser light is absorbed by the pigment present around the hair root. As a result, the cells of the hair root are heated up and selectively destroyed.
The big advantage of the diode laser is that it can be applied to all hair and skin types, including light, tinted or tanned skin. Diode laser is also less sensitive than IPL and can therefore be applied to any part of the body such as the face and the pubic area.
Because this technique of laser hair removal is so safe, you can use it all year round, so you can start a series of laser hair removal at any time.
Do not epilate or wax for at least 4 to 6 weeks before the treatment, because the hairs are needed to conduct the effective heat inwards. Do not epilate or wax during the treatment. Shaving is allowed a day before the treatment.
It is also wise not to use self-tanners for two weeks before and one week after the treatment, because they contain a substance that reacts with light.
On the day of the treatment or a day before the treatment, you should shave the area to be treated. This is preferably done with a disposable razor. Do not use razor blades or shaving systems that first pull the hair out of the skin, because the hair then sinks back into the skin. As a result, it cannot serve as a guide for the light to be depilated.
To prevent your skin from arming itself against light protection after the treatment by producing a lot of pigment (hyperpigmentation), it is advisable to wait a month before sunbathing or tanning beds. Therefore, in the summer or during winter sports, cover the skin with clothing or use a protection factor higher than SPF 30 (sunblock) if exposure to UV light of the treated areas cannot be avoided.
The hair follicles that have been effectively treated can never produce a hair again.
It does mean that you can stay free of unwanted body hair for years to come. It may happen that some hair returns, but never again with the same density. In that case you only need a maintenance treatment.
Do not epilate or wax during the treatment process. Shaving is allowed. Do not use razor blades or shaving systems that first pull the hair out of the skin, because the hair then sinks back into the skin. As a result, it cannot serve as a guide for the light to be depilated.
The laser is suitable for all skin types. When in doubt, we do a spot test and test how the skin reacts to the laser light. After 14 days, after an analysis of the skin reaction, we decide whether a treatment course can be started.
Treatment is certainly possible with dark skin. Very dark skin is first tested with a mild setting on an inconspicuous part of the body, for example under the armpits. If the skin appears to be able to withstand it well, we can do a second test with a higher setting. The body part to be tested is shaved beforehand.
